Comparing the two documentaries

In our theoretical issues class, two different documentaries were introduced, Manufactured Landscapes & Running Fence, the first one was done by Edward Burtynsky, the second was done by Christo & Jenn-Claude.
In my point of view the work of Edward is completely different than Christo’s , Edwards work was adopting the idea of creating great Polaroid images out of rubbish and things that means nothing, on the other hand Christo’s created new things from his imagination and inspiration, he made a fence that was new work which didn’t exist .
In the end I can say that both of them have created his work in his own style and way with his own inspiration, and I think both of them succeeded in a way that made them unique.

Christo and Jeanne-Claude (Movie)

Christo and Jeanne-Claude is a movie that we have watched in the class. This movie was about an installation that Christo and Jeanne-Claude did. The installation was really amazing. How they have done it in few days just to stand there for couple of days it took them a really big effort to do it they had help from so many people just to make it work properly they have also extended their installation in the sea it looked really nice that was my best part in the movie. They have suffered just to get the approval. In the end it looked wonderful and I loved the looking of the sun through the fabric.

Manufacture Landscapes (Movie)

In our last class we watched a movie called Manufacture Landscapes it was produced by Jenifer Bachwal. Jenifer does art from the nature and she gets her inspiration from it. This movie was really touch full and interesting in the same time. It kept rolling and rolling in my mind I couldn’t stop thinking about it and I couldn’t forget the faces of the people in the movie and how they were suffering. It made me open my eyes and think wider it really affected my life in a positive way that made me think about every little thing around me. In a fact of reality it was impressive.

reading 12 : What’s Wrong with Plagiarism? by Gunnar Swanson

In class today we were talking about what is wrong with plagiarism? By Gunnar Swanson. Gunnar Swanson is a graphic designer, media designer, writer, and educator. His graphic design has won over seventy-five awards and publications for trademark from the AIGA, Print, Graphics and many more. This article was based on Gunnar survey he did a survey by the meaning of plagiarism. One of the answers that he got was The Word of God Argument. We all believe that plagiarism is a bad thing and it also considers a lie, Lying can have victims and result in specific harm, but most of us believe that lying is wrong even if no victim other than the liar is identifiable. Basically plagiarism has also of different meanings and also could be in many different things for example plagiarism in music. In conclusion I come to say that Plagiarism is not only is not ethical and has its’ consequences. It is a result of being stupid.

Reading 10 : Life of Luxury by Hugh Aldersey-Williams.

In class today we were talking about Life of Luxury by Hugh Aldersey-Williams.
This presentation was really interesting; the girls who were presenting have started their presentation with a question, which is what does luxury mean in a personal point of view? Each one of the student have answered differently, one of them said its something that not everybody can have and the other said it is having everything that you don’t need.
Luxury is unique and basically meanings of luxury changes trough the years and the idea of it begin with property. Luxury has a connotation of comfort it gives you more than you expect. Examples of luxury products: Bentley, blackberry and mac. In my point of view I agree with Hugh Aldersey-Williams when he said in his article that luxury is a product ha has potential to become a chassis when everything on the product is better than it has to be in addition that our role as a graphic designers is creating a luxury brand because people nowadays like to appear confidence.

Reading 9 : “Beautility” Good Design Has Utility by Tuker Viemeister.

We were discussing in class “Beautility” Good Design Has Utility by Tuker Viemeister. This article was really helpful for us all as a graphic designers that has increased our knowledge in some new points that we didn’t know before. For example how we have to educate ourselves in marketing and advertising, we should earn the trust of the client and influence him/her, in addition that we have to understand our client and know them more so can know who to develop our information that we need to give them in a good way that they would easily understand and accept. After that Tuker mentioned in his article Maslow’s Pyramid that we have already studied it before.
In the end I come to say that this article is a really successful article in my believes and the discussion in class was really active.
